Vietnam reopen visa application (e-visa & visa on arrival) for citizens of Denmark starting from March 15, 2022

Updated: 10:38 AM - 23 Nov,2024

From March 2020, in the midst of the coronavirus outbreak, Vietnam has decided to temporarily stop issuing visas to all foreign visitors, including citizens of Denmark. This is due to the growing concerns of the rapid spread of Covid 19 that has taken the lives of thousands of people around the world. Denmark is among those countries that have been badly hit by the pandemic. The country has recorded almost a thousand cases of Covid 19.

Now that the crisis is over, Vietnam has decided to bring back its visa issuance system. The country is hoping to boost its tourism industry again after suffering from losses brought about by the coronavirus pandemic. For citizens of Denmark who are planning to visit Vietnam soon, you’d be happy to know that applying for a Vietnam tourist visa is now so easy. In fact, there are two visa options for you to choose from, the e-visa and Visa on Arrival. Here’s everything you need to know about these two visas.

What Is Vietnam E-Visa?

Also known as the electronic visa, the Vietnam e-visa is one of those visas that the Vietnam Immigration would issue to visiting tourists. It was launched to encourage more foreign visitors to come to Vietnam and boost the country’s tourism industry. The e-visa application is done online, which is convenient for all foreign tourists. There’s no longer a need to go to an embassy to submit the visa application.

As a single-entry visa, Danish citizens can enter Vietnam once using the e-visa. The validity of the visa is only 30 days, so they need to get out of the country before the 30-day period ends. Also, the e-visa can be used at various points of entry in the country. Once you have the e-visa printed, you can use it to enter the airports, seaports, or through land borders.

What is Vietnam Visa on Arrival?

Citizens of Denmark who wish to stay in Vietnam for a much longer time should choose the Visa on Arrival. This visa will let you apply for a multiple-entry visa up to a maximum stay of 60 days.

The Visa on Arrival is a type of visa that you can get at the airport. However, before you fly to the country, you are required to request a pre-approval letter. To do this, you must register online and fill out a visa application form. The letter is what you will present at the visa counter at the airport in order to claim your visa. You will also be asked to submit other requirements, such as photos, and of course, your passport. There will be a payment of $25 for the stamping fee before you can get your visa. For this, you need to prepare cash of either the US dollar or equivalent to Vietnamese dong.

It’s important to note, however, that the visa on arrival can only be claimed from the airport. Therefore, if you are entering by land or by sea, this visa is not suitable for you. If you’re coming here on a cruise or if you’re traveling by land, you might as well apply for the e-visa.

What’s The Best Vietnam Visa for Citizens of Denmark?

Danish citizens are eligible for both the Vietnam e-visa and Visa on Arrival. Both visas are easy to apply. So which of them should you choose?

It will mainly depend on the number of days you plan on staying in Vietnam and on how you will travel to the country. If you plan on staying for only 30 days or less, then the e-visa should be fine. This is also a great visa to choose if you are going to Vietnam on a cruise or if you’re traveling by land. That’s because this visa is acceptable in various ports of entry.

But for Danish citizens who are visiting Vietnam for longer than 30 days, the visa on arrival is what you should choose. With this visa, you have an option to apply for a multiple-entry with a maximum stay of 90 days. However, this will only work if you are entering the airport.

When Should You Apply for your Visa?

Since Vietnam has just resumed the visa issuance after temporarily halting due to the Covid 19 outbreak, the country is expecting to receive many applications for a visa in the coming days. Therefore, in order not to encounter problems, try to apply for your visa as early as possible. The Vietnam Immigration advises foreign visitors to apply for their visa at least two weeks prior to their trip. This is to allow ample time for them to process the visa. But if you need the visa very urgently, you can pay for rush processing.
